Day 4: Moose, deer, bear and rock warning, great ride

Our ride today was even better than yesterday's.

We left Libby, Montana, under more cloudy skies and temps in the high 50's.  A 12 mile ride took us to the edge of Lake Koocanusa.  We had an incredibly scenic 45 mile run along the lake.

We then turned west on Montana Highway 92 and had an almost 100 mile ride featuring a lot of switchbacks and scenic views that ended with a roller coaster ride downhill near the Montana and Idaho border.  We made a wrong turn and think we may have crossed the Canadian border at some point.  We managed to avoid the border patrol and a possible trip to Gitmo.

Late in the day we crested a hill and came across a rather large moose ambling across the road.  Fortunately, he was not an immediate threat.  At the next rest stop Bill announced that he was a bit tired and asked if Jim would ride in the lead.

Here is Jim's account: "Today was a remarkable day...great ride...good weather...crossed into Canada illegally....The Doc went head to head with a moose.....If you don't know....the Doc always leads.....but at our next stop the Doc said...."Hey Jim, why don't you lead this next leg".....I was taken by surprise because as you now know....the Doc always leads.  As we were rolling through the hills and curves I realized why the Doc wanted me to lead.  I was the Doc's and Bo's Moosebait."

We decided not to have yogurt, berries and whole grain cereal today.

More Lake Koocanusa

Yet more Lake Koocanusa

Shouldn't we be watching for people shooting out of car windows instead?

It's not easy watching for falling rocks and grizzly bears.

Bill and Jim ride Idaho Highway 92

The Kooteni National Forest.

We saw a lot of deer today.

The moose we encountered had to be much bigger than this.
